CHAPTER 4 Every Mafia Family Wanted Her Dead… But the Most Feared Boss Declared War for One Waitress

Chicago had not seen a morning like this in decades.
Black SUVs raced through downtown.
Police scanners exploded with reports of shootings, burning warehouses, and abandoned luxury cars riddled with bullets.
The underworld had only one topic.
Sophie Miller.
Or rather...
Sophia DeLuca.
The name printed on the birth certificate changed everything.
Inside Moretti Manor, Dominic gathered every captain under his command.
Twenty men filled the conference room.
No one spoke.
Dominic placed the birth certificate onto the table.
"This woman leaves this house only over my dead body."
One captain frowned.
"Boss... she's not blood."
Dominic slowly looked at him.
"No."
"But my son is alive because of her."
"If protecting her starts a war..."
"So be it."
The room fell silent.
No one questioned him again.
Meanwhile, Sophie sat in the mansion's enormous library, completely overwhelmed.
She still could not understand why everyone suddenly wanted her alive—or dead.
Leo walked in carrying two mugs of hot chocolate.
"You look scared."
"I am."
He smiled sadly.
"I was scared too."
She looked at him.
"Why were they chasing you?"
Leo lowered his eyes.
"I heard something I wasn't supposed to hear."
"What?"
"My uncle murdered my mother."
Sophie's breath caught.
Leo continued quietly.
"My father thinks she died in a car accident."
"But I saw everything."
Before Sophie could answer...
The mansion alarms screamed.
Red emergency lights flashed across every hallway.
May you like
One guard burst through the doors.
"They're inside!"
