Chapter 5 - The Ashes of the Empire

FB Hook Title: 🛑 "HE BLEW UP HIS OWN MANSION TO SAVE THEM! THE SILENT KING’S ULTIMATE SACRIFICE!"
The explosion didn't tear through the nursery, but it rocked the entire East Wing of the mansion, collapsing the main staircase and trapping Enzo’s men in a wall of fire.
The distraction was all Luca needed.
Before Enzo Moretti could react to the deafening blast, Luca lunged forward. He didn't shoot—he used his massive body weight to tackle Enzo through the doorway, sending them both crashing into the burning hallway.
Luca kept Lily shielded beneath him, absorbing the impact of the fall.
Enzo groaned, trying to raise his gun, but Luca’s boot came down hard on his wrist, crushing the bones. Enzo screamed in agony as his weapon clattered away into the flames.
Luca knelt down, grabbing Enzo by his collar. "This is my city," Luca growled, his face illuminated by the dancing flames. "And you just burned your last bridge."
He threw Enzo into the collapsing wooden rafters of the hallway. Luca didn't look back as the ceiling caved in, burying the Moretti boss under a mountain of burning debris.
Holding Lily tightly against his chest, Luca ran. He took the emergency fire escape, descending into the cool, rain-slicked gardens. The air was thick with ash and smoke. The grand Ferraro estate, a symbol of power for generations, was burning to the ground.
Luca made his way to the wine cellar entrance. He bypassed the debris and slid open the heavy steel door of the hidden bunker.
Elena was inside, pacing frantically, her face pale with despair. When she heard the door open, she spun around, her eyes widening.
"Lily!" she screamed.
"Mama!"
Luca placed the little girl down, and she ran straight into her mother’s arms. Elena fell to her knees, sobbing uncontrollably, kissing her daughter’s face, holding her as if she would disappear if she let go.
Luca stood by the entrance, watching them. His white shirt was stained with soot and blood; his hands were burned, but his face remained a calm, stoic mask.
"Is it over?" Elena asked, looking up at him through her tears.
"The Moretti threat in Bellavita is gone," Luca said quietly. "But my home is destroyed. The police will be here soon. The other syndicates will see this as a sign of weakness. A war is coming, Sofia. A war I have to fight."
He walked over to them and knelt down. He looked at Lily, then at Elena.
"You can't stay here," Luca said. "It's too dangerous for you. I have a safehouse in Switzerland. My men will take you there tonight. You will have a new life. No mafia, no running, no fear. You will be safe."
Elena stared at him, her heart aching in a way she didn't expect. "What about you?"
"I belong to the shadows of Bellavita," Luca said, a tragic smile touching his lips. "I don't get to leave."
He reached out and gently touched Lily’s head. "Keep the bird, Lily. It found its song because of you."
He stood up to leave, but before he could take a step, Elena grabbed his hand. Her grip was tight, desperate.
"No," Elena said, her voice firm. "We aren't going to Switzerland."
Luca frowned. "Sofia, you don't understand—"
"I spent my whole life running from monsters, Luca," she said, looking directly into his eyes. "But for the first time, I found a monster who protects us. We aren't leaving you to fight this alone."
Luca stared at her, speechless.

Suddenly, the steel door of the bunker began to shake. Heavy, metallic thuds echoed from the other side.
Someone was trying to break in.
