CHAPTER 4 — "The Hidden Vault Opened... And One Letter Changed Everything."

For three days, Lawrence & Co. Fine Jewels dominated every business headline in America.

"Luxury Empire Scandal."

"Heiress Exposes Multi-Million-Dollar Theft."

"Chairwoman Returns After Six Years."

Television crews camped outside the Fifth Avenue flagship store.

Social media exploded with theories.

Most people believed the story was over.

They were wrong.

Because Victoria hadn't returned simply to recover stolen jewelry.

She had returned for something far more personal.

Late one evening, after every employee had gone home, Victoria stood alone inside the original vault beneath the showroom.

Only four people in the world possessed the code.

Her grandfather had designed the room himself.

The thick steel door groaned open.

Rows of velvet boxes lined the shelves.

Each contained family treasures collected over nearly a century.

Victoria walked past diamonds worth fortunes without giving them a second glance.

She stopped before an old cedar chest hidden behind a false wall.

Inside lay photographs, handwritten journals, faded letters, and a leather-bound ledger.

Everything appeared untouched.

Until she noticed one envelope.

It wasn't there six years ago.

Across the front, in elegant handwriting, were four simple words.

For Victoria. Alone.

Her heartbeat quickened.

The handwriting belonged to her father.

Richard Lawrence.

He had died twelve years earlier.

With trembling fingers, she unfolded the letter.

If you're reading this... then someone inside our own family has betrayed us.

Victoria froze.

The letter continued.

Never assume the greatest danger comes from strangers. Wealth attracts enemies, but blood sometimes creates the deepest wounds.

She kept reading.

Every sentence made her chest tighter.

Her father confessed that, years before his death, he had uncovered evidence that someone was secretly trying to seize control of Lawrence & Co.

He never discovered the mastermind.

He only knew one terrifying fact.

The thefts were never about jewelry.

They were about ownership.

At the bottom of the letter was one final instruction.

Trust no one carrying the Sterling name.

Victoria stared at the page.

Arthur had confessed.

Chloe had been arrested.

So why had her father written those words years before either scandal happened?

Unless...

Arthur had never been the real target.

He had only been a pawn.

Victoria slowly looked toward the old family ledger.

Something much larger had just begun.
