Chapter 6 - The Secret Bank Account

As the criminal trial approached, Marcus and a court-appointed forensic accountant continued digging into Teresa's complete financial trail. What they discovered turned an already horrifying story into a deep corporate conspiracy.

Teresa hadn't acted alone, nor was Cousin Mason the mastermind.

The real force behind the attempt to steal my property was a regional real estate development company called Apex Horizon Holdings. The company was actively purchasing properties along my street to build a high-density commercial complex, but my house sat right in the middle of their planned development footprint.

When I had previously refused their lowball buyout offers six months prior, Apex Horizon Holdings had approached my mother through Cousin Mason.

The forensic accountant revealed that Apex Horizon had paid Teresa a secret "consulting fee" of $100,000 up front, with a promise of an additional $400,000 once she successfully transferred the property title to their shell company.

They had deliberately manipulated her greed, instructing her to drive my household into debt, ruin my credit, and force Amy out of the picture so that the title transfer could proceed without legal resistance.

"They used your mother as a battering ram," Marcus explained during an emergency meeting at his office. "They knew that if a family member caused the domestic destruction, you'd be too distracted by the emotional trauma to notice the underlying corporate acquisition happening in the background."

"Does the District Attorney know about Apex Horizon?" I asked, feeling a cold fury rise within me.

"They do now," Marcus replied with a wide grin. "The DA's organized crime division just executed a search warrant on Apex Horizon's corporate headquarters downtown. They seized their servers, internal emails, and wire transfer logs."

The conspiracy ran all the way to the top. The CEO of Apex Horizon Holdings, a prominent local developer named Richard Vance—the brother of the corrupt notary Harold Vance—was arrested that very afternoon at his country club.

The local news media caught wind of the story. Headlines across Nashville exploded:
