Chapter 10 - The Last Stand at The Onyx RoomThe Onyx Room was closed for a private event, though the "private event" was an ambush waiting to happen.

The crystal chandelier cast a brilliant, cold light over the empty tables and white linen cloths. At Table Seven, beneath the old oil painting of the fox hunt, Julian Rourke sat alone, pouring two glasses of neat bourbon. Bruiser lay at his feet, his amber eyes fixed on the double oak doors at the entrance.
The heavy mahogany doors slowly swung open.
Viktor Vance stepped into the room, flanked by six heavily armed mercenaries in black tactical gear. Viktor looked strikingly like Marcus, but colder, taller, and carrying the dead-eyed stare of a professional executioner. He carried a customized shotgun resting casually across his forearm.
"Julian," Viktor called out, his voice echoing off the frosted glass windows. "Nice place you got here. Shame about the upcoming foreclosure."
Julian didn't stand up. He simply raised his glass, taking a slow sip of the amber liquid. "Viktor. You drove all the way from Chicago just to die in a Detroit supper club? You should have called ahead; we could have saved you the gas."
"Dante was a fool, but he was our fool," Viktor snarled, raising his shotgun slightly. "The Commission wants the West Side back. They want the ledgers, the real estate, and your head on a silver platter."
"My ledgers are balanced, Viktor," Julian replied, his voice dropping into a dangerous, razor-sharp register. "And my head is attached rather firmly."
"Not for long—"
Before Viktor could finish his sentence, the mezzanine doors above the dining room flew open with a deafening crash.
"I wouldn't bet on that, Mr. Vance," a clear, steady voice rang out from the balcony.
Viktor and his mercenaries snapped their heads upward. Standing on the landing, bathed in the sharp blue neon light of Woodward Avenue, was Sienna Cole. In her hands, she held the heavy brass ledger from the very first safe she had ever opened—and beside her stood Marcus Vance, holding a submachine gun pointed directly down at Viktor’s tactical squad.
"Marcus?!" Viktor roared, his face contorting in betrayal. "You traitorous son of a bitch—"
"I work for the person who pays better and treats people like humans, Vic," Marcus shouted back with a grim smirk. "And trust me, you can't beat Julian’s 401k."
"Kill them all!" Viktor screamed, raising his shotgun.
Chaos erupted.
Before Viktor’s finger could squeeze the trigger, Bruiser rocketed across the polished floor like a streak of lightning, slamming into the lead mercenary and sending him crashing through a display table of crystal glassware.
At the same time, Marcus opened fire from the balcony, pinning Viktor's squad behind the bar.
Julian moved with the chilling speed of the Reaper, drawing his Walther and neutralizing the two gunmen flanking Viktor before they could even level their sights.
Within thirty seconds, the fight was over. The mercenaries lay disarmed on the floor, groaning in pain.
Viktor Vance stood alone in the center of the ruined dining room, his shotgun clattering to the floor as Julian walked slowly toward him, the barrel of his pistol resting casually at his side.
Julian stopped two feet away from the Chicago enforcer, looking down at him with absolute, chilling detachment.
"Tell the Commission in Chicago that Detroit is closed," Julian said softly. "Tell them the books are audited, the trash is taken out, and the house belongs to us."
Viktor swallowed hard, trembling, before slowly backing toward the exit and disappearing into the rainy Detroit night with his surviving men.
Silence settled back over The Onyx Room, broken only by the hum of the neon sign outside.
Julian lowered his pistol and turned around, looking up toward the mezzanine. Sienna walked slowly down the grand staircase, her tailored suit immaculate, her chin held high, looking every bit the queen of the West Side.

Julian met her halfway down the steps. He didn't say a word. He simply pulled her into his arms, pressing his lips to hers in a fierce, breathless kiss that sealed their empire in blood, ink, and absolute loyalty.
Down at their feet, Bruiser let out a contented yawn, thumped his tail against the floor once, and closed his amber eyes, knowing the house was finally, safely, at peace.
