Chapter 8 - The Queen of the West SideThree months later, The Onyx Room looked entirely different.

The brass sign polished on Woodward Avenue still gleamed under the headlights, but inside, the atmosphere had shifted. Teo Ruiz still ran the floor, but he no longer flinched when guests raised their voices—because everyone in Detroit now knew who sat in the private corner booth beneath the fox hunt painting.

Sienna Cole no longer carried trays of bourbon across the crowded floor.

Instead, she sat at the head of the long mahogany table in the grand library of 404 Grand River Avenue, dressed in a sharp, tailored charcoal suit that mirrored Julian’s own. Her hair was pulled back into a sleek knot, and her hands moved effortlessly across a brand-new digital terminal as she reviewed the latest asset acquisitions for the West Side syndicate.

Bruiser lay curled beneath her chair, snoring softly, completely at home.

The heavy oak doors opened, and Julian walked in, carrying two cups of espresso. He set one down beside her laptop, leaning over to press a casual kiss to the top of her head.

"How are the books looking, Chancellor?" Julian asked, a hint of amusement in his deep voice.

Sienna didn't look up from her screen, though a small, triumphant smile played on her lips. "Your offshore accounts are cleaner than a church choir, Julian. And I just restructured the real estate holdings in Corktown. We're officially legitimate in three counties."

Julian chuckled, pulling out the chair beside her and sitting down. "Legitimate. What a boring word."

"It's not boring," she corrected, finally turning her head to look at him, her amber-flecked eyes meeting his with equal parts warmth and steel. "It's bulletproof."

Julian reached across the desk, interlocking his fingers with hers—the same hand that had once gripped a trembling tray, the same wrist that Preston Vale had dared to touch.

"Bulletproof," Julian repeated, his smirk turning into a genuine, unmasked smile. "I like the sound of that."

Downstairs, the city of Detroit rumbled on, a sprawling beast of concrete, ambition, and midnight shadows. But here, inside the fortress of Grand River Avenue, the king and his newly crowned queen ruled side by side—proof that sometimes, the most dangerous animal in the room isn't the one with the teeth, but the one smart enough to tame him.
