Chapter 4 - THE BOARDROOM MASSACRE

🔥 CHILLS: They thought she was a grieving, broken bride—until she walked into the boardroom wearing the INK-STAINED wedding dress! 🔥The corporate headquarters of Vance Global sat on the 80th floor of the highest skyscraper in the city. At 8:55 AM, the atmosphere inside the main boardroom was pure chaos.

Thirty board members, billionaire investors, and senior executives were shouting over each other.

"The stock is tumbling! We dropped twelve points in pre-market trading!"

"We need to appoint an interim CEO immediately! Eleanor Vance is a liability! She’s a child who just caused a public relations nightmare at Blackthorne Castle!"

"I say we sell our shares to the highest bidder before the SEC freezes our assets!"

Chief Financial Officer Richard Vance—my father’s second cousin, a man who had smiled at my face while whispering poisons in Celeste’s ear—slammed his fist on the mahogany table.

"Silence!" Richard yelled. "As the senior remaining member of the Vance family, I am taking control of this meeting. Eleanor is unstable. Her mother was unstable, her father died of poor health, and she clearly lacks the mental capacity to run a multi-billion-dollar conglomerate. We will vote to remove her from the succession line immediately—"

The heavy double doors of the boardroom didn't just open; they were slammed back against the walls by two massive security guards.

The room fell instantly silent.

I walked in.

I hadn't slept for a single second. I hadn't changed my clothes.

I was still wearing my mother’s white silk wedding gown. The black ink was dry now, forming a massive, jagged scar across my chest and down the length of the skirt. My hair was pulled back into a tight, severe bun.

Behind me walked Noah, carrying a stack of legal folders, and Alexander Sterling, whose presence alone made half the board members turn pale.

"Eleanor?" Richard stammered, standing up so fast his leather chair rolled backward. "What... what is the meaning of this? You are wearing a... a ruined dress. You look ridiculous!"

"I look exactly like your worst nightmare, Richard," I said, walking to the head of the table.

I didn't sit down. I stood at the apex of the room, leaning forward, resting both hands on the polished wood. The black ink on my cuffs dragged slightly across the pristine table surface.

"I hear you were just discussing my mental capacity," I said, my voice dangerously calm. "Let's talk about yours instead. For example, let's talk about the mental capacity it takes to sign off on a twelve-million-dollar 'consulting fee' to a shell company registered in the Cayman Islands under Julian Thorne’s name."

Richard’s face drained of color. "I... that was a legitimate corporate expense—"

"Noah," I said simply.

Noah opened the first folder and tossed a stack of bank statements directly in front of Richard. "Those are the wire transfers, Richard. Signed by you, authorized by Celeste Vance, using a forged signature of Arthur Vance from three weeks after he was already in a medically induced coma."

"This is an ambush!" another board member, a man named Henderson, shouted. "You can't just walk in here with Alexander Sterling—our primary competitor—and threaten us! We own this company!"

"Correction, Henderson," Alexander Sterling spoke up, stepping forward with his hands lazily tucked into his pockets. "As of exactly six minutes ago, Sterling Industries has acquired thirty-two percent of Vance Global’s public shares through a hostile market buyout. Combined with Eleanor’s fifty-one percent controlling share left to her by her father's real will..."

Sterling smiled, and it was the smile of a shark that had just scented blood in the water.

"...Eleanor and I own eighty-three percent of this room. Which means you don't own a damn thing."

I looked around the table. The men who had spent years looking down on me, the executives who had treated me like a useless fat girl who only mattered because of her last name, were all trembling. Some of them couldn't even look me in the eye.

"Here is how this morning is going to go," I announced, tapping my fingers against the mahogany. "Richard, Henderson, and the five other board members whose names are highlighted in Noah’s folder will resign immediately. You will forfeit your stock options, your severance packages, and your corporate bonds."

"You can't do that!" Henderson gasped. "That's illegal!"

"What's illegal is corporate espionage and conspiracy to commit murder," I replied, leaning down until I was inches from his face. "The FBI is currently sitting in the lobby downstairs. You can either sign the resignation papers Noah has prepared and walk out the back door with a shred of dignity, or you can leave this building in handcuffs just like Julian and Celeste did last night."

Richard looked at the papers, his hands shaking violently. He looked at the other board members for help, but nobody moved a muscle. They were terrified of Alexander Sterling, and they were utterly paralyzed by me.

With a trembling hand, Richard picked up a pen and signed his name. One by one, the corrupt board members followed suit, their faces hollowed out by defeat.

"Excellent," I said, pulling the signed documents toward me. "Now, for the remaining members of the board... meet your new Chairperson."

I sat down in the massive leather throne at the head of the table—the seat my father had occupied for forty years. The dry black lace of my dress brushed against the gold armrests.

"Our first order of business," I said, looking at the stunned executives. "We are launching a full-scale corporate liquidation of every asset Julian Thorne owns. I want his family broke by midnight."
