Chapter 6 - The True Queen’s Reign

The next morning, the financial world woke up to a total earthquake.
BREAKING NEWS: Vance Tech Collapses Overnight as CEO Julian Vance Pleads Guilty to Multiple Felonies. Meridian Global Completes Hostile Takeover of All Assets.
The internet was flooded with clips from the wedding—specifically, the video of Julian knocking over his own champagne tower and trying to frame a little girl, followed by Elena’s iconic, icy shutdown. The video garnered over 50 million views in less than twelve hours, turning Elena into a global symbol of an untouchable, protective mother. The comment sections were filled with millions of users cheering her on.
Inside the penthouse suite of the Meridian Headquarters, the sun poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating the sprawling skyline of the city.
Elena sat at her massive mahogany desk, reviewing the final acquisition papers of Vance Tech. Vivienne stood by the window, a glass of real, uninterrupted champagne in her hand, smiling for the first time in five years. "It’s completely over. Julian is on a bus to a maximum-security facility. The board has been entirely purged of dissenters. You have total control now, Elena."
Elena didn't look up from her tablet. "Good. Ensure Vivienne’s shares are fully restored to her, and set up a trust fund for Marcus, the server who brought us the video. He deserves a reward for his courage."
Just then, the heavy office doors pushed open, and Lily ran in, giggling, holding a drawing she had made at school. The terrifying, cold CEO instantly dissolved, replaced by a warm, loving mother. Elena caught Lily in her arms, lifting her up onto her lap.
"Look, Mommy! I drew us!" Lily proud showed off the crayon drawing of two figures holding hands in front of a giant green castle.
"It’s beautiful, sweetheart," Elena whispered, kissing her daughter's forehead. "No one is ever going to hurt you or make you cry again. I promise."
Suddenly, Elena’s private phone vibrated on the desk. It was an restricted number. Elena frowned slightly and answered it, placing it on speakerphone.
"Madam Vance," a deep, unfamiliar voice whispered from the other end. "You managed to silence Julian, and you managed to secure the corporation. Very impressive. But Julian wasn't the one who found that adoption file seven years ago. We gave it to him."
Vivienne dropped her champagne glass. It shattered against the marble floor, a haunting echo of the night before.
Elena’s eyes went completely cold once again. Her grip on the phone tightened. "Who is this?"
"We are the people who left Lily at that port seven years ago," the voice chuckied darkly. "We’ve been watching her grow, Elena. She has a very important destiny, and a multi-billion-dollar corporation is just the beginning. We'll be seeing you very soon. Tell the little princess we said hello."
The line went completely dead.
Lily looked up at her mother, completely innocent, unaware of the danger. "Mommy? Who was that?"

Elena looked at the dead screen of her phone, then out at the massive city below her. The battle with Julian was over, but a much bigger, much more dangerous war for her daughter's life had just begun. A slow, fierce fire reignited in Elena’s eyes. She held Lily tighter against her chest.
She had built an empire to protect her child, and if the whole world tried to take her daughter away, she would simply burn the whole world down.
