— You're insane! You can't prove anything! It's your word against ours! — Mark shouted, his voice cracking with panic as he tried to regain his footing. — We'll tell the police you fell, and we tried to save you!

Arthur let out a low, humorless chuckle. He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small, sleek black device—a professional-grade audio recorder with a blinking red light.

— Every single word you said at the edge of the cliff. Every cold, calculated detail about my wealth, my 'accidental' death, and your triumphant future, — Arthur said, holding the recorder up like a trophy. — Broadcasted live via satellite feed to my legal team and the local precinct. In fact, Detective Vance is probably pulling into the scenic overlook parking lot right about now.

As if on cue, the distant wail of police sirens began to echo up the winding mountain pass, cutting through the ambient sound of the waterfall.

Clara’s knees buckled. The illusion of her grand design, her luxury, and her freedom shattered into a million pieces around her. She looked at Mark, realizing with sickening clarity that they had walked directly into a trap meticulously laid out by a master chess player.
