Chapter 6 - The Empire Reclaims Its KingThree months later, the sensational trial of the decade dominated every headline across the country: “The Millionaire’s Miracle: How a Paralyzed Husband Unmasked His Wife’s Murder Plot.”

The audio recording played in the courtroom brought gasps from the jury and gallery. Clara’s icy confession, combined with forensic lab results confirming traces of slow-acting paralytic agents found in Arthur’s old wine glasses, sealed their fate.

The judge’s verdict was swift and merciless: Life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for both Clara and Mark. All of Clara’s assets, hidden accounts, and legal claims to the Vance estate were completely annulled under state anti-murderer inheritance laws.

Arthur sat in the CEO’s grand corner office on the fiftieth floor of Vance Tower, looking out over the sprawling skyline of the metropolis below.

He was standing. Fully recovered, strong, and sharper than ever.

His secretary knocked softly and entered, placing a thick leather-bound dossier on his polished mahogany desk.

— Mr. Vance, the board of directors is ready for your quarterly address. Also... the liquidation of Clara’s personal properties has been finalized. Every cent has been redirected to the neurological research foundation.

Arthur nodded slowly, running his hand along the edge of the desk. He didn't feel joy. He didn't feel hatred. He felt the cold, clean satisfaction of a man who had cleaned his house of vermin and reclaimed his throne.

— Let them in, — Arthur said, his voice echoing smoothly through the spacious room.
