Chapter 5 - THE PENTHOUSE STANDOFFMarcus shoved me forward down the hallway, guiding me toward the private elevator bank at the end of the corridor.

My mind raced. I couldn't let him take me. Not now. Not when I finally knew the truth.
As Marcus reached out to press the call button, I threw my weight backward, slamming my elbow directly into his stomach.
Marcus grunted, stumbling back, but his finger instantly tightened on the trigger. A bullet shattered the glass display case beside us, raining shards of crystal across the floor.
Before he could swing the barrel back toward my chest, the heavy oak study door burst off its hinges with a deafening crash.

Alessandro stood in the doorway, his eyes blazing with a terrifying, primal fury that made Marcus pale instantly. In Alessandro’s hand was a heavy-caliber firearm aimed directly at Marcus’s head.
"Drop it, Marcus," Alessandro whispered. It wasn't a request. It was a death sentence.
