Chapter 6 - THE CONFESSION OF A TRAITORMarcus froze, his weapon trembling in his hand. He glanced from Alessandro’s unwavering barrel to me, realizing he was trapped.

"You're too late, Alessandro," Marcus snarled, a desperate grin spreading across his face. "Dominic already has the board votes. Once you're dead and the girl is gone, the family empire—"

Bang.

Alessandro didn't hesitate. A single, clean shot blew Marcus’s weapon out of his hand, sending him crashing to the floor with a shattered shoulder.

Within seconds, half a dozen loyal security guards swarmed the hallway, hauling Marcus away to the subterranean holding cells below.

Alessandro dropped his gun onto the carpet, crossing the floor in two massive strides before pulling me into his arms. His embrace was so tight it squeezed the breath from my lungs, but I didn't care.

"Are you hurt?" Alessandro asked, his hands shaking as he cupped my face, searching my eyes for any sign of injury. "Did he touch you?"

"I'm fine," I whispered, burying my face against his chest. "I'm fine, Alessandro. But we need to talk about your uncle."
