Chapter 7 - THE TOWER FALLSBrandon looked out at the helicopters, the realization of his absolute ruin finally washing over him. The weapon in his hand began to lower.

"I... I just wanted my father to respect me..." Brandon whimpered, tears cutting trails through the dust on his face. "He told me I was useless... he said if I didn't marry Emily and get her trust fund, I was nothing..."
"You chose to hurt her, Brandon," I said coldly. "Your father didn't pour that poison into her glass. You did."

The heavy steel blast door was blown off its hinges by a breaching charge. Federal SWAT operators flooded into the room, throwing flashbangs that blinded Brandon instantly.
"DROP THE WEAPON! DOWN ON THE GROUND NOW!"
Brandon dropped the gun and slammed his face onto the floor, weeping like a child as three heavy boots pinned him to the carpet.
Victoria let out a pitiful shriek as female agents pinned her arms behind her back, pulling her expensive pearls apart and scattering the white beads across the floor like teeth.
As the officers hauled the Holloway family out in chains, I stepped out onto the executive balcony. The cool morning air hit my face, washing away the smell of smoke and gunpowder.
Agent Vance walked up beside me, handing me a bottle of water. "Are you alright, Helen?"
"I am now," I said, watching the police cruisers stretch for blocks down the avenue. "Is Emily safe?"

"She's at the secure safehouse under federal protection," Marcus replied, a proud smile breaking across his face. "The grand jury just returned an emergency indictment. Seizure warrants are being executed on every asset owned by Holloway Global. Bank accounts, mansions, yachts, art collections—all frozen."
"Good," I said, crushing the empty plastic bottle in my hand. "Make sure they don't have enough left to buy a single cup of coffee in prison."
