Chapter 7 - The Confrontation at West CapitalThe lobby of West Capital was a temple of modern architecture—polished granite, cascading indoor water features, and towering glass walls that overlooked downtown Seattle.

At 2:00 PM, the glass doors slid open.
Cameron walked in, not wearing his usual defeated expression, but flanked by two state labor inspectors and a federal prosecutor.
Employees stopped at their desks. Executives peered over glass balconies.
Richard Vance rushed out of the executive elevator, his face purple with rage. “What the hell is he doing here? Security! Get him out of my building!”
“Don’t bother, Richard,” Cameron said loudly, his voice echoing across the cavernous lobby. “You’re no longer authorized to give orders here.”
“I am the CEO!” Richard shouted, waving a piece of paper.
“You were the CEO of a company built on wage theft and corporate exploitation,” the federal prosecutor stepped forward, flashing a badge and slapping a thick sheaf of legal warrants onto the front desk. “We have federal subpoenas for every financial record, payroll ledger, and subcontractor agreement tied to Apex Sanitation. You’re under investigation for systematic labor violations and racketeering.”

Richard turned pale, staggering backward as cameras flashed from reporters who had mysteriously been tipped off about the raid.
Cameron didn't look back at him. He turned on his heel and walked out, leaving the crumbling empire behind.
