Chapter 6 - CODE RED"Get down!" Adrian shouted, lunging across the kitchen and pulling Sarah and Lily to the floor beneath the heavy oak table.
CRASH!
The front living room window shattered into a million sparkling shards as a barrage of high-caliber rifle fire tore through the exterior walls! Plaster exploded from the walls, raining dust and debris across the room.
"They found us!" Sarah screamed, clutching Lily tightly against her chest.
Adrian pulled his concealed 9mm pistol from his shoulder holster, his eyes turning hard and cold like polished steel. He hit his encrypted comms button with his free hand.
"Vincent! Report!" Adrian barked over the radio.
*“Boss! We're hit! Volkov’s men came in through the back alley—three vehicles, heavy artillery! They bypassed our outer scouts!”* Vincent’s voice yelled over heavy gunfire in the background. *“Get out the back door now! We have a chopper waiting at the quarry field two blocks down!”*
"Hold the line, Vincent! Do not let them breach the back fence!" Adrian commanded.
He holstered his weapon for a second, grabbed a heavy wool blanket, and wrapped Lily in it before scooping her up into his arms.
"Sarah, take my hand," Adrian ordered, his voice carrying absolute, unshakeable authority. "Run when I say run. Do not look back."
They burst through the kitchen’s back service door just as a heavy incendiary grenade landed with a loud thud inside the living room!
