Chapter 7 - The True BuilderFor three seconds, Warren didn't move.

Marcus smirked, waiting for the explosion of rage, the threats of lawsuits, or the desperate bargaining of a broken man.

Instead, Warren let out a quiet, chest-deep laugh.

He placed Jenna’s sketchbook gently onto the mahogany table right in front of Marcus.

“You think Hail Enterprises is made of glass, steel, and stock portfolios, Marcus?” Warren asked, his voice steady and echoing clearly through the silent boardroom. “You think you bought this empire with a vote?”

“The board has spoken, Warren. Hand over your keycard,” Marcus demanded, holding out his hand.

“I built this company from nothing,” Warren continued, ignoring Marcus’s outstretched hand. “Every skyscraper, every bridge, every foundation was poured with my sweat and my vision. But for the last nine years, I forgot what I was building for. I thought success was about reaching the highest cloud.”

Warren tapped the cover of Jenna’s sketchbook.

“Yesterday, a seven-year-old girl reminded me what real building looks like. It’s about creating shelter for the homeless, safety for the lost, and dreams for the children who come after us. You can have the glass towers, Marcus. You can have the stock ticker.”

Warren turned toward the heavy boardroom doors.

“Because while you were busy stealing my chair, I finally found my son’s legacy. And that is something no board of directors can ever take away from me.”
