Chapter 8 - The Legal Counter-StrikeMarcus watched Warren walk out of the boardroom, a slight uneasy knot forming in his stomach, though he quickly brushed it aside. “Let him go! He’s finished! Lock his accounts and prepare the press release announcing my ascension!”

An hour later, Marcus sat in the CEO’s chair, signing the final paperwork to execute the harbor development buyout.

Suddenly, the boardroom doors flew open.

Arthur Vance rushed in, his face completely pale, his phone clutched tightly in his trembling hand.

“Marcus... we have a catastrophic problem,” Arthur choked out.

“What are you talking about? We won!”

“We didn't win,” Arthur stammered, slamming his phone onto the desk. “When Warren signed over his voting shares to ‘protect the minor’—that trust fund he set up this morning... it wasn't just a personal account.”

Marcus frowned. “What do you mean?”

“He transferred his controlling class-A voting shares into the Tyson & Jenna Foundation—a legally binding non-profit trust dedicated to urban youth infrastructure and housing,” Arthur read frantically from his screen. “And under the trust’s charter... Warren Hail is appointed as irrevocable lifetime trustee. He doesn't need the board’s permission anymore. He just legally locked up fifty-one percent of the company’s voting rights in an untouchable charitable trust!”

Marcus staggered backward, his face turning the color of ash. “He... he gave away his controlling stake? He gutted the company’s liquidity?!”

“Worse,” Arthur whispered. “The federal prosecutor’s office just issued a subpoena. Your private communications with me regarding the manufactured Section 8 coup were intercepted by Warren’s security detail three days ago. Federal investigators are walking into the lobby right now.”
