Chapter 2: The Scar That Changed Everything

Richard stared at the child in disbelief.
"How do you know me?" he whispered.
The boy didn't answer.
Instead...
He slowly rolled up Richard's trouser leg.
Gasps echoed across the ballroom.
On Richard's ankle was an unusual crescent-shaped birthmark.
The boy looked at it... then quietly rolled up his own pant leg.
The room went silent.
The exact same birthmark.
Same shape.
Same place.
Same impossible scar.
Richard's wine glass slipped from his trembling hand and shattered across the floor.
His mind raced back nine years...
A terrible storm...
A devastating car accident...
A hospital evacuation...
And the newborn son doctors had declared dead after the chaos.
No body had ever been recovered.
No explanation had ever made sense.
Richard had spent years believing fate had stolen his only child.
Now...
That impossible little boy stood in front of him.
With tears streaming down his face, the child pulled a faded photograph from his pocket.
It showed a young nurse holding a newborn beside Richard's unconscious wife.
On the back was a handwritten message:
"If anything happens to us... find your father."
Richard's breathing became ragged.
The guests watched in complete silence as the billionaire dropped to his knees in front of the barefoot child.
But before he could embrace him...
The ballroom doors burst open.
A sharply dressed woman stepped inside, surrounded by police detectives.
She pointed directly at the boy.
"There he is!"
Everyone assumed she had come to expose the child as a fraud.
Instead...
She looked straight at Richard and said,
"That boy isn't here to steal your fortune... he's here because someone in this room spent nine years trying to make sure you would never know he survived."
The detective slowly turned toward one of the honored guests seated at the head table...

...and reached for a pair of handcuffs.
To be continued...
