Chapter 9 - The Legacy RestoredThree days later, the storm finally broke, leaving the city washed in brilliant, blinding morning sunlight. Bellmont Heights looked like a polished jewel, its grand mansions gleaming against a cloudless blue sky.

Inside the Rosewood Suite, the heavy velvet curtains were drawn back to let the warm sunlight flood the room.

Anna sat propped up against a mountain of plush pillows, wearing a brand-new ivory silk pajama set that felt softer than anything she had ever touched in her life. A bowl of warm chicken soup sat on the bedside table, alongside a colorful array of fresh fruits and a towering stack of storybooks.

The door clicked open, and Robert stepped inside, holding a small, beautifully wrapped package tied with a silver ribbon.

"How are we feeling today, little architect?" Robert asked, a warm, genuine smile—the first true smile he had worn in a decade—spreading across his face.

Anna beamed, her color fully restored, her hazel eyes sparkling with life. "Dr. Vance says my lungs are clear! And Mrs. Gable made me pancakes with real strawberries!"

"Good," Robert said, sitting on the edge of the bed and handing her the package. "Because I have a surprise for you."

Anna eagerly tore away the ribbon and paper. Inside was a small, beautifully crafted miniature architectural model of a magnificent treehouse library, complete with tiny glass windows and a working light inside.

She gasped, tracing the delicate woodwork with her fingers. "It’s... it’s like a castle in the trees!"

"It's yours," Robert said softly, taking her small hand in his. "And I bought the entire sprawling woodland behind our estate. As soon as you're strong enough, we're going to build a real one—just like that, right in the oaks."

Anna looked up at him, her eyes shining with unshed tears of pure joy. She threw her arms around Robert's neck, burying her face in his shoulder. For the first time in ten years, Robert felt the heavy, suffocating weight lift entirely from his soul. He wasn't just a cold titan of real estate anymore. He was a father.
