At the massive twenty-seat dining table in the oceanview mansion, the lights were finally all turned on. But the table wasn't empty anymore.
Instead of a single lonely plate, the table was filled with dishes of comfort food, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, and colorful juice glasses.
Maria sat near the end of the table, smiling warmly, while little Mia sat right next to Alexander at the head of the table. She was busy drawing pictures of spaceships and princesses on the back of a multi-million-dollar corporate contract.
Alexander looked down at the colorful crayon drawing Mia handed him. It showed a giant, a princess, and a housekeeper standing together under a bright yellow sun.
"Do you like it, Uncle Alex?" Mia asked, her eyes shining with excitement. "Mommy says you used to be a robot, but I think you're just a giant who needed a hug."
