Chapter 5 - THE SHOWDOWN AT THE ALTER

"He Planned His Wedding, But He Attended a Funeral."The final confrontation didn't happen in a dark alley. It happened exactly where the Greco family felt most invincible: the Grand Cathedral of Saint Jude, where the rescheduled wedding between Nico and Viviana was supposed to take place as a forced surrender.

Don Greco sat in the front pew, flanked by fifty armed men. Viviana stood near the altar, her shoulder bandaged under her white bridal gown, her face twisted in triumphant malice. They believed they had won. They believed Nico had finally broken under the pressure of the cartel's financial ruin.

The heavy oak doors of the cathedral swung open.

Nico Bellandi walked down the aisle alone. He wore a pristine black tuxedo, but his face was that of a grim reaper. He didn't look like a groom walking to his bride; he looked like an executioner approaching the gallows.

"Ah, Nico," Don Greco laughed, standing up. "You finally learned your place. Sign the treaty on the altar, take my daughter's hand, and we will stop the bloodshed."

Nico stopped ten feet from the altar. He slipped his hands into his pockets.

"I came here to sign something, Greco," Nico said calmly. "But it's not a treaty."

Suddenly, the stained-glass windows above the altar shattered inward. High-tech tactical teams—not mafia soldiers, but elite federal agents—rappelled into the church, their red laser sights instantly dotting the chests of every single Greco mobster.

Don Greco panicked. "What is this?! You brought the feds?! You violated the Omertà! You broke the code!"

"I didn't bring them," Nico smiled coldly. "She did."

From the back of the cathedral, walking down the aisle with absolute poise, was Nora. She was dressed in a simple, beautiful maternity dress. Next to her was the District Attorney.

For the last three weeks, while the Grecos thought they were winning a turf war, Nora and Nico had been working behind the scenes. Nora hadn't just been sitting in a safehouse; she had been organizing the financial ledgers that Isabella Bellandi had secretly handed over to her after the estate attack.

"Every illegal offshore account, every bribe to the city council, every murder order signed by the Greco family," Nora said, her voice echoing clearly off the high church ceilings. "It's all been handed over to the federal government. I might just be a 'maternity ward escapee,' Viviana, but I know how to keep a receipt."

Viviana screamed, pulling a small derringer pistol from her garter belt, aiming it at Nora. "You ruined my life!"

Before she could pull the trigger, Nico drew his own weapon with lightning speed. A single shot echoed through the cathedral. Viviana dropped the gun, clutching her shattered wrist, collapsing onto her white dress as it stained crimson.

"Take them away," the District Attorney ordered, and the federal agents swarmed the pews, arresting Don Greco and the remnants of his empire.
