Chapter 4 - The Puppet Master in Rose

Elena survived, but barely. The doctors confirmed she had been ingested a rare, slow-acting toxin derived from a specific flower. It was designed to mimic a sudden heart attack.

Alexander placed the mansion under a complete lockdown. Armed guards stood at every entrance. He sat by Elena’s hospital bed for three days straight, refusing to leave her side, holding her pale hand.

When Elena finally woke up, she saw Alexander’s bloodshot eyes and disheveled hair. "Alex... Liam... is he safe?"

"He's safe, my love. He's at a secure location," Alexander said, his voice cracking. "I almost lost you. I won't let anyone hurt you again."

"It was Sofia," Elena whispered weakly. "She gave me the drink."

Alexander's face darkened into an expression of pure, murderous rage. He immediately ordered his private security team to hunt down Sofia. By midnight, Sofia was captured at a private airfield trying to flee the country. She was brought to a secluded warehouse owned by the Whitman empire.

Alexander walked into the dimly lit warehouse, looking like the devil himself. Sofia was tied to a chair, weeping, her emerald dress torn and dirty.

"Why did you do it, Sofia? Who gave you the poison?" Alexander demanded, slamming his fist onto a metal table.

"I had to!" Sofia sobbed. "She threatened to ruin my family! My father's embezzlement... she has the files! If I didn't kill Elena, my family would go to prison and be ruined forever!"

"Who?" Alexander roared. "Isabella?"

"No!" Sofia screamed, shaking with fear. "Not Isabella! Isabella is loud, but she's stupid! It’s Amelia! It was always Amelia!"
