Chapter 7 - The Offshore GhostI stood up abruptly, the warmth of the kitchen moment shattered by the harsh glare of the phone screen.

"What is it, Gavin?" Emily asked, instantly sensing the shift in my posture. Her maternal instincts flared, her eyes darting back to the bassinet. "Is Viktor still a threat?"

"Not personally," I said, my mind racing as I tapped through encrypted financial spreadsheets on my phone. "Vance is locked in a federal holding cell, but his legal team was pre-programmed to execute a massive asset dump if he didn't check in by midnight. He’s liquidating millions in untraced offshore accounts to fund his bail—and to launch a retaliatory hostile takeover of Rowan Tech while I'm here."

Emily stood up, walking over to me and placing a comforting hand on my arm. "Can he do that? While he's facing federal charges?"

"If he has the right corrupt judges and hidden proxies in Zurich, yes," I gritted my teeth, my corporate killer instinct surging back to life. "He thinks he can bankrupt me, strip me of my empire, and leave me with nothing while I'm distracted by family drama. He thinks I'm weak because I'm happy."

"So what do you do?" she asked, her voice steady, showing the brilliance of the woman who had once been Rowan Tech’s top risk analyst.

"I don't wait for morning," I said, unlocking my phone and dialing a direct, secure line. "I wake up my entire executive board, patch in the federal prosecutor handling his RICO case, and freeze every single cent of his offshore holdings before the Swiss banks open for business."

"Do it from here," Emily urged softly, stepping closer. "Don't leave us, Gavin. Not tonight."

I looked down into her emerald-green eyes, then glanced over at our son sleeping peacefully in the warm glow of the Christmas lights. Running off to a corporate skyscraper on Christmas Eve felt like repeating the exact mistakes that destroyed our marriage in the first place.

"I'm not going anywhere," I said firmly, hitting speakerphone and dialing Marcus’s private number. "Marcus? Get a secure satellite link routed to my location in Bellevue right now. We're launching a counter-strike."

For the next two hours, the quiet Bellevue kitchen transformed into a war room of high finance and corporate warfare. While Emily held Noah close against her chest, rocking him gently, I sat at the wooden table barking orders into my encrypted phone, systematically dismantling Viktor Vance's financial empire piece by piece.

By 3:00 AM, the Swiss accounts were frozen, the shell corporations were seized by federal regulators, and Viktor Vance’s global financial network had been reduced to ash.

I hung up the phone, tossed it onto the table, and let out a long, exhausted breath.

Emily smiled softly, walking over and resting a tired head against my shoulder. "You really are a ruthless billionaire, aren't you?"

"Only when someone tries to take my world away," I whispered, wrapping my arms around both her and our sleeping son, holding them tighter than I had ever held anything in my life.
