Chapter 9 - The Billionaire's VowThree months later, the snow of Bellevue had melted away, replaced by the vibrant, blooming greens of a Pacific Northwest spring.

The corporate headquarters of Rowan Technologies in downtown Seattle was running smoother than ever, but something had fundamentally changed about its CEO. For the first time in company history, Gavin Rowan left the office at 5:00 PM sharp every single day.
No late-night board meetings. No weekend mergers. Just a fast drive back to the newly renovated, sunlit estate where Emily, Noah, and I now lived together.
It wasn't the cold, sterile penthouse anymore. We had filled the sprawling home with warmth, laughter, and the chaotic, beautiful sounds of a growing baby. Noah was now four months old—gigantic green eyes, a head of thick dark hair, and a laugh that could melt the hardest corporate heart in Seattle.
On a sunny Saturday afternoon in April, I stood on the back lawn overlooking the sparkling waters of Lake Washington. Emily was sitting on a picnic blanket nearby, playing with Noah as he giggled and tried to grab a floating soap bubble.
I walked over slowly, holding a small velvet box in my hand.
Emily looked up, her green eyes sparkling in the spring sunlight. "What’s that mysterious look for, Mr. CEO?"
I dropped down onto one knee on the emerald grass, right beside our son.
Emily’s breath caught. She instinctively reached out, steadying Noah as he cooed happily, looking down at me with the exact same curious expression I wore every single day.
"Six months ago, I walked into a little blue house on Christmas Eve thinking I had lost everything," I began, my voice steady and clear, filled with a depth of emotion I never knew I was capable of. "I was an arrogant, blind fool who thought success was measured in bank accounts and stock options."
Tears welled in Emily's eyes as she listened, a radiant smile breaking across her face.
"You protected me from a monster, you carried our son through the darkest months of your life alone, and you gave me a second chance at a life I didn't deserve," I continued, opening the velvet box to reveal a stunning custom-designed ring featuring a rare, flawless green emerald surrounded by brilliant-cut diamonds. "Emily Carter... you are my home, my strength, and my entire world. Will you marry me again? Properly this time?"
Emily didn't hesitate for a single second. Tears spilled over her lashes as she threw her arms around my neck, nearly knocking me over into the grass.

"Yes!" she sobbed happily against my shoulder. "Yes, a million times yes!"
Noah let out a loud, joyful squeal, clapping his tiny hands together as if he understood every word.
