Chapter 5 - THE DINNER THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

Headline: "Blood on the marble, a confession caught on camera, and the final dinner where the ultimate trap was set...""Maya, watch out!" Eleanor screamed, throwing her own body in front of her true daughter.

The sharp silver blade sliced through the air. Instead of striking Maya, it tore deep into Eleanor’s forearm as she blocked the blow. Blood splattered onto the pristine white rug.

"Mother!" Chloe gasped, suddenly snapping out of her trance, dropping the bloody letter opener.

"Get out," Eleanor whispered, her voice dead, cold, and dripping with a mother’s ultimate betrayal. "Get out of my house before I have the FBI destroy both of you."

Julian, realizing the situation had turned catastrophic, grabbed Chloe’s arm. "We’re leaving. This isn't over, Eleanor. The board will hear about your breakdown." They hurried out, leaving a trail of chaos behind them.

An hour later, the estate was locked down. The corrupt guards had fled, replaced by a high-end private security team loyal only to Eleanor. A private doctor had stitched up Eleanor's arm.

In the grand dining room, a surreal scene was unfolding.

The long, grand dining table was set for three. Silver platters, crystal glasses, and a lavish multi-course dinner sat cooling. Maya sat at the edge of a chair, wearing a clean dress Eleanor had forced her to change into. Eleanor sat next to her, refusing to let go of Maya’s hand.

"I don't understand," Maya said, her voice trembling. "If I am your daughter... who was the woman who raised me?"

Eleanor sighed, wiping a tear. "Sarah Collins was a nurse at that hospital. My investigators found her records. She lost her own baby during delivery that night. Driven by grief, and seeing the luxury I possessed, she made a terrible, desperate choice. She switched our tags. She took you to give you a 'normal' life away from the cutthroat elite, and left Chloe—an orphan whose teenage mother had abandoned her at birth—in your place."

Maya’s eyes filled with tears. "Sarah was a wonderful mother to me. She was kind, she was gentle... she died of cancer two years ago. She never told me."

"Because she loved you," Eleanor said softly. "And I am grateful she loved you. But now, you are home."

Suddenly, the grand doors of the dining room opened.

Chloe walked in.

She wasn't crying anymore. She wore a stunning, expensive black evening gown. Her makeup was perfect. She looked calm—too calm. Behind her walked Julian, carrying a briefcase.

"What are you doing here?" Eleanor hissed, standing up, her wounded arm tightly bandaged. "I told you to leave."

"Oh, Mother, we just came for dinner," Chloe smiled, a chilling, vacant look in her eyes. She sat down at the opposite end of the long table. "And we came to sign some paperwork."

Julian opened his briefcase, pulling out a legal document. "Eleanor, we know the truth. But the public doesn't. If the media finds out the great Eleanor Vance raised a fraud while her real daughter was a broke maid, the Vance stock will crash to zero by tomorrow morning. The board will be ruined. We all lose."

Julian pushed the paper forward. "This is a voluntary transfer of power. Sign over the voting shares to Chloe and me. We will give this... maid... a fifty-million-dollar settlement to disappear forever. If you don't sign, we release a story to the press that you've gone mad, framing an innocent housemaid to replace your daughter."

Chloe smiled, picking up a glass of red wine. "Come on, Mother. Let's have one last family dinner. Sign the papers, and nobody gets hurt. Refuse... and I promise you, Maya won't survive the ride back to the Bronx."

A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the dining room. Maya looked at Eleanor, terrified. But Eleanor didn't look scared.

Slowly, a cold, sharp smile spread across the Billionaire’s face. The Queen of Wall Street had returned.

"You really think you're a Vance, don't you, Chloe?" Eleanor asked softly. "You think you inherited my mind. But you didn't. You're sloppy."

Eleanor reached under the dining table and pressed a hidden button.

The massive double television screens on the dining room wall suddenly flared to life.
