Chapter 10 - The Echo of the StarSix months later, the front-page headline of The Wall Street Journal read: TECH GIANT STERLING GLOBAL COLLAPSES AFTER 24-YEAR FRAUD EXPOSED; WHITMORE & MERCER UNVEIL REVOLUTIONARY AEROSPACE ALLIANCE.

In the penthouse office of Whitmore-Mercer Technologies, a new framed photograph hung on the wall beside the original Polaroid. It was a picture of Claire, Daniel, and Emily standing together at the grand opening of their new research lab in Portland—a lab officially named The Hannah Reed Memorial Center for Advanced Systems.
Claire sat at her desk, spinning a small silver pendant between her fingers. It was an exact replica of the eight-pointed star, freshly forged, with no chips, no flaws, and no secrets.
The door opened without knocking—a privilege only reserved for family.
Daniel walked in carrying two cups of terrible vending-machine coffee, setting one down on Claire’s desk with a knowing grin.
"Tastes just like Northlake," Daniel joked, leaning against the edge of the desk.
Claire took a sip and smiled, looking out over the bustling laboratory below where Emily was already leading a team of brilliant young engineers toward a brighter, unhidden tomorrow.
