Chapter 10 - The HorizonI stood by the window one last time before packing my briefcase to head home.

Home.

The grand mansion that Ethan had once called his private kingdom, where he believed he was untouchable behind locked gates and trembling submission. Now, it was just my house. A place of peace, quiet, and absolute control.

My phone vibrated on the desk.

I glanced down at the screen. It was an automated notification from the federal correctional facility database—a routine security update regarding inmate transfer logs.

Inmate #88904-Ethan Sterling has been successfully transferred to maximum security unit block C.

I tapped the screen, closing the notification without a second thought. I didn't feel anger. I didn't feel satisfaction or gloating revenge. I simply felt... nothing. Ethan Sterling was no longer a storm in my life. He was just a footnote in a textbook on corporate greed and human arrogance.

I picked up my coat, slipped my arms through the sleeves, and grabbed my leather briefcase.

As I walked out of my office, turning off the lights behind me, the glass doors of the elevator slid open with a welcoming chime. I stepped inside, pressed the button for the underground parking garage, and watched my reflection in the polished steel doors as the numbers ticked downward.

The bruises on my face had healed months ago.

The silence I had kept for three years had served its purpose.

And as the elevator doors parted to reveal the open road ahead, I took a deep, steady breath of the evening air, stepped out into the night, and began the rest of my life.
