Chapter 6 - The Unholy Alliance

The unexpected twist that changed the underworld forever: The waitress doesn't want her debt cleared... she wants a seat at the table.Three weeks later.
The Southline Diner on Halsted Street was closed for 'renovations,' its windows boarded up and covered in graffiti. But inside, the lights were bright, the air was clean, and the smell of cheap grease was entirely gone.
Adrian sat at the corner booth, sipping a cup of perfectly brewed, expensive black coffee. Beside him stood Lena, looking pale but walking on her own, her eyes filled with deep gratitude as she looked at the woman standing across from them.
Nora Callahan was no longer wearing a stained apron. She wore a sharp, tailored dark green suit that complemented her curves perfectly. Her hair was pulled back, her posture commanding and confident.
"The Volkov Syndicate is completely dismantled," Adrian said, sliding a thick manila envelope across the table. "Yuri is dead, their assets have been seized, and your father’s debt is legally and completely erased from every ledger in existence. You are free, Nora. You can leave Chicago, go back to school, and become whatever you want."
Nora didn't touch the envelope. Instead, she slid it right back to him.
Adrian frowned, his dark eyes narrowing. "What is this?"
"I don't want to leave," Nora said calmly, leaning against the counter. "I spent my entire life being treated like I was invisible because of my size, my bank account, and my father's reputation. But three weeks ago, I realized something. I'm good at this."
Lena smiled softly, stepping forward. "She saved my life, Adrian. And she blew up half a pier without blinking."
Nora looked directly into Adrian’s eyes, refusing to back down. "Mr. Dimas is gone. This diner belongs to me now. But I don't want it to just be a restaurant. I want it to be the central safehouse for your operations on the South Side. I know every alley, every corrupt cop, and every supplier in this district."
Adrian stared at her for a long moment, the silence in the diner growing heavy and intense. Then, slowly, the most dangerous man in Chicago threw his head back and laughed—a rich, genuine sound that sent shivers down Nora's spine.
"And what do you want in exchange for this partnership, Nora?" Adrian asked, his voice dripping with newfound respect.
"Fifty-fifty split on all South Side revenues," Nora declared, stepping closer, her eyes flashing with absolute authority. "And a seat at the high table. The chubby waitress is dead, Adrian. From now on, you and I run this city together."

Adrian stood up, extending his hand across the counter. His grip was warm, solid, and bound by blood.
"Welcome to the family, Boss Callahan."
