Chapter 9 - The PlungeDriven by blind rage and betrayal, Ethan lunged across the slick rooftop toward Eleanor.

"You bitch!" Ethan roared, his hands clawing at the air as he tackled her toward the edge.
Eleanor shrieked, stumbling backward under his weight. The sudden impact caught them both off balance. They crashed against the low decorative stone parapet at the edge of the roof. The weathered stone cracked under the violent force.
"Ethan, stop!" Claire screamed, pushing herself off the slate tiles to help, but it was already too late.
With a horrifying crack of fracturing masonry, the parapet gave way.
Ethan and Eleanor tumbled backward over the edge of the roof in a tangle of limbs and desperate, clutching hands. The entire courtyard fell dead silent, save for the collective gasp of the officers below.
Thud.
The heavy safety netting, hastily deployed by the emergency rescue team moments before, caught them mid-air, bowing violently under the sudden impact before springing back and dropping both bodies onto the soft grass below.

Sirens wailed into a frantic crescendo. Medics swarmed the lawn instantly, tearing open medical kits and shining flashlights over the fallen figures.
Claire stood alone on the dark, windy rooftop, staring down at the chaotic scene unfolding far below. The nightmare was over. The empire of lies had finally crumbled under its own weight.
