Chapter 3: The Unmasking

Blacked-out, unmarked tactical helicopters swarmed the parade ground, blinding the colonel with powerful searchlights. A dozen heavily armed, elite operators dropped from the skies, immediately disarming the base guards.

The colonel drew his weapon, panicked. "What is the meaning of this?! I am the commanding officer of this sector!"

A 4-star General stepped out of the lead helicopter. The colonel instantly dropped to his knees, trembling. "General! Thank God you're here. My unit is undergoing a mutiny, led by this rogue recruit, Anna!"

The General didn't look at the colonel. He walked straight past him, stood in front of Anna, and gave a crisp, respectful salute.

"Reporting for duty, General Director," the 4-star General said.

The entire company gasped. The silence was deafening.

Anna returned the salute, her posture radiating absolute authority. She wasn't a fresh academy graduate. She was the newly appointed Head of Military Internal Affairs—the youngest General Director in the nation's history, operating completely undercover to investigate corruption and abuse of power in this specific unit.

Anna walked over to the trembling colonel, looking down at him.

"You thought I cared about my hair?" Anna whispered, tossing a thick dossier of his illegal arms-dealing and human rights abuses into the mud. "I needed to see exactly how far your tyranny went. I needed to see if these soldiers were too terrified to do what is right."

She turned to the three hundred soldiers standing in the rain. "You passed the test. You protected your brother in arms."

Turning back to the weeping, handcuffed colonel, Anna delivered the final blow:

"Take him away. And make sure they shave his head in prison."
