Chapter 6 - The Federal Marshal’s Arrival“It’s no trick, Chief Eze,” a deep, authoritative voice echoed from the main entrance of the ballroom.

Heavy, synchronized footsteps clicked against the marble floor. Three federal economic crime investigators, flanked by armed federal marshals, marched straight down the center aisle.

The lead investigator stopped right in front of Chief Eze, flashing a gold badge that caught the harsh glare of the TV cameras.

“Chief Eze, you are formally under arrest for attempted homicide, corporate embezzlement, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy in the assassination attempt of CEO Chidi Nwosu,” the investigator announced loudly.

Panic exploded in the hall. Ngozi screamed, dropping her crystal glass as it shattered into a thousand glittering pieces across the floor. Adaeze looked like she was about to faint, her manicured hands trembling violently.

“You can’t do this!” Chief Eze shrieked, thrashing as the federal marshals grabbed his arms and snapped heavy steel handcuffs onto his wrists with a sharp, metallic click. “I am a pillar of this community! My company funds your campaigns!”

“Your company is currently under federal asset forfeiture,” Chidi said coldly, stepping forward and removing his dark sunglasses. For the first time in three years, his unseeing eyes locked directly toward the spot where his uncle stood in disgrace. “And your freedom is permanently revoked.”
