Chapter 7 - The Final Chess MoveAs the federal marshals dragged Chief Eze and a screaming Ngozi out of the ballroom, the media swarmed the stage, microphones thrust into our faces.

“Mr. Nwosu! Is the merger canceled? Who owns the controlling shares now?” a reporter shouted.
Chidi raised one hand, silencing the chaotic room instantly. He turned his head, finding my hand in the crowd, and pulled me gently to his side, wrapping his arm securely around my waist.
“The Nwosu empire is no longer vulnerable to corporate vultures,” Chidi announced firmly into the microphones. “And the controlling voting shares of the entire conglomerate have officially been transferred to my wife, Adaeze—the woman who saved my life fifteen years ago, and saved my soul tonight.”

Adaeze, standing near the exit in her ruined designer dress, watched in absolute horror as security guards escorted her and her mother out into the rainy night, stripping them of every penny, every car, and every false title they had ever stolen.
