CHAPTER 2 – The Housekeeper's Secret That Destroyed the Real Criminal
The courtroom fell into complete silence.
Every camera immediately turned toward Greta.
The elderly housekeeper calmly walked to the witness stand, still holding the thick sealed envelope against her chest.
The judge adjusted his glasses.
"Ma'am, unless you have evidence directly related to this case, I cannot allow this interruption."
Greta nodded.
"I understand, Your Honor."
She carefully placed the envelope on the clerk's desk.
"I've worked in Richard Hayes' home for twenty years."
Soft laughter spread across the courtroom.
The prosecutor smirked.
"And what exactly makes a housekeeper qualified to testify about corporate fraud?"
Greta didn't even look at him.
Instead, she turned toward Victoria.
The millionaire's ex-wife suddenly looked pale.
Greta spoke quietly.
"Because I wasn't only cleaning the house."
The room became silent again.
"I was watching."
She slowly opened the envelope.

The prosecutor frowned.
"What is this supposed to be?"
Greta answered firmly.

She handed the first document to the judge.
"It contains security camera backups from the Hayes mansion."
Victoria's eyes widened.

Greta continued.
"I learned many years ago that the security system automatically created hidden backup files every thirty days."

The courtroom erupted.
Journalists immediately began typing furiously.
The judge ordered silence.
Greta continued.
"For months before Richard's arrest..."
"I watched Victoria secretly meet with Ethan Brooks, the company's Chief Financial Officer."
Gasps echoed across the room.
Richard slowly turned toward his former wife.
She refused to meet his eyes.
Greta removed several photographs.
The images showed Victoria and Ethan entering private offices late at night.
Another photograph showed them carrying boxes of financial records.
Then came the next piece of evidence.
A hidden audio recording.
The courtroom speakers crackled.
Victoria's voice filled the room.
"Once Richard signs the Singapore deal, we'll move the money."
Then Ethan answered.
"The investigators already believe he'll take the blame."
Victoria laughed.
"After the arrest...half the fortune becomes mine anyway."
Complete silence.
The prosecutor's face turned white.
The judge stared at Victoria.
"Mrs. Hayes..."
"Do you deny making these statements?"
Victoria couldn't speak.
Sweat rolled down her forehead.
Her attorney whispered frantically.
But Greta wasn't finished.
"There is one final recording."
She inserted another USB drive.
A video appeared on the courtroom screen.
It showed Ethan secretly accessing Richard's office after midnight.
He connected a laptop to the company's server.
Minutes later...
He transferred millions of dollars into shell companies overseas.
The timestamp was unmistakable.
Richard had been attending a charity gala hundreds of miles away at that exact moment.
His alibi was undeniable.
The prosecutor slowly lowered his files.
Everything he'd built the case on...
Had just collapsed.
Then Greta quietly revealed one final truth.
"I wasn't collecting evidence for revenge."
"I was collecting it because Richard once saved my life."
Twenty years earlier, Greta's husband had died unexpectedly.

Half the courtroom was crying.
The people who had laughed at the old housekeeper only minutes earlier now looked down in shame.

The court clerk suddenly rushed toward the judge with a newly delivered document.
The judge read it.
Then looked directly at the prosecutor.
"Mr. Prosecutor..."
"It appears federal investigators have just arrested Ethan Brooks."
