Chapter 6 - THE CONFESSIONSirens began to wail in the distance, growing louder by the second as NYPD cruisers and federal tactical units converged on Le Cirque. The red emergency lights flashed rhythmically against the walls of the dining room, illuminating the chaos.

Two of the mercenaries managed to stagger toward the service exit, dragging their dazed leader with them, while the fourth was pinned beneath a heavy serving cart overturned by Daniel.

Marcus Vance tried to slip out toward the kitchen doors, but Lorenzo Moretti—moving with cold, calculated fury—lunged forward and grabbed Vance by the collar of his expensive suit, slamming him against the wall.

“You,” Lorenzo whispered, his voice vibrating with a terrifying calm. “You sold the prototype specifications to Apex Global’s offshore shell company. You tried to kill me to take full control of the board.”

“I-I didn't have a choice!” Vance sobbed, his composure completely shattered. “Apex was going bankrupt! If the merger failed, we would have lost everything! They forced me to add the kill-switch!”

“Who is ‘they’, Marcus?” Emily asked, walking over and standing inches away from the trembling CEO. She held her phone up, displaying a decrypted wire transfer routing millions of dollars into an offshore account bearing Vance’s digital signature.

Vance opened his mouth to speak, but before a single word could escape, a deafening crack echoed through the kitchen corridor.

A single, silenced gunshot pierced the heavy double doors.

Vance’s eyes widened in shock. A small, dark crimson stain bloomed instantly across the center of his chest. Before anyone could react, the corrupt CEO collapsed limp to the floor, lifeless.

“Sniper!” Daniel screamed, diving behind a table.

Emily didn't duck. She bolted straight toward the kitchen service doors, kicking them open into the dark alleyway behind the restaurant.
