Chapter 9 - THE NEW ERASix months later, the front page of The Wall Street Journal featured a massive headline that sent shockwaves through the global tech sector:

FROM WAITER TO CHIEF EXECUTIVE: DR. EMILY CARTER TAKES THE HELM AT MORETTI-CARTER BIOTECH.
The accompanying photograph showed Emily standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Lorenzo Moretti at a grand press conference in downtown Manhattan. The once-hostile corporate titan and the waitress he had once mocked were now co-founders of the most revolutionary medical technology firm in the world.
The scandal surrounding Apex Global and the corrupt board members had resulted in historic convictions, permanently altering how Wall Street monitored corporate ethics and executive safety protocols.
And on a quiet Friday evening, six months to the day after that fateful dinner at Le Cirque, Lorenzo walked into a high-end downtown restaurant.
He didn't wear a luxury watch. In fact, his left wrist was entirely bare.
When the young waitress approached his table with a silver coffee pot, Lorenzo looked up, smiled warmly, and caught her eye.
“Good evening, sir. Coffee?” the waitress asked politely.
“Please,” Lorenzo said, handing her a custom business card alongside a generous, folded note. “And take your time. There’s no rush at all.”

The waitress glanced down at the card. It bore the logo of Moretti-Carter Biotech and a handwritten note on the back: “If you ever want to build the future instead of just serving it, call this number. We pay attention.”
She looked back up, her eyes sparking with ambition and intelligence, realizing her life had just changed forever.
