Chapter 7 - The Emergency MotionAt 8:00 AM sharp the next morning, the civil courthouse doors swung open.

I didn't wait for a scheduled hearing. Accompanied by my attorney, Melissa Grant, I marched straight into the chambers of Judge Harrison, flanked by two federal marshals and an economic crimes investigator.

Richard Mercer sat at the plaintiff’s table inside the courtroom, looking immaculate in a tailored charcoal suit, surrounded by two high-priced corporate attorneys. When he saw me walk in, a condescending, pitying smile curled across his lips.

“Claire, really,” Richard sighed, standing up to address the judge. “Has this unfortunate woman’s instability reached the point of harassing the court on a Saturday morning?”

Judge Harrison frowned, adjusting his reading glasses. “Mrs. Mercer, what is the meaning of this unannounced intrusion?”

“Your Honor,” I said, my voice steady, clear, and ringing with absolute authority as I stepped forward. “We are filing an emergency motion for the immediate revocation of temporary guardianship, alongside criminal charges for witness tampering, perjury, and extortion.”

Richard laughed aloud, a dry, dismissive sound. “Your Honor, she’s delusional—”

Before Richard could finish, Melissa Grant placed a sleek black laptop on the judge’s bench and plugged in our USB drive.

“We aren't presenting allegations, Judge Harrison,” Melissa said calmly. “We are presenting audio-visual confessions recorded directly from Mr. Mercer’s private security server.”

Melissa pressed play.
