Chapter 8 - The UltimatumFriday morning arrived with brilliant autumn sunlight streaming through the windows of our estate. Ellen was resting comfortably, her color returning, her spirit fortified by the absolute loyalty of her husband and the swift, unyielding justice we were executing.
At 10:00 AM, the estate intercom chimed.
I walked over to the security console. Standing outside the iron gates, looking small, defeated, and utterly broken, was Michael. He wasn't wearing his tailored suit; he wore a rumpled hoodie and jeans, his shoulders slumped forward.
Beside him stood Cassandra, arms crossed, staring defiantly into the security camera lens.
I pressed the speaker button.
“You’re trespassing, Michael.”
“Dad, please,” Michael’s voice cracked, sounding desperately young, stripping away all the arrogant bravado of his adulthood. “Just open the gate. Let us in. We need to talk. Mom... is Mom here? Let us talk to Mom.”
“You had your chance to talk to your mother, Michael. Right before you grabbed her arm and threw her against a wall,” I replied coldly.
Cassandra stepped in front of the camera lens, her face twisted in desperate rage. “You old monster! You’re ruining our lives over a silly little push! It was an accident! Everyone makes mistakes! You’re destroying your own son over a woman who doesn't even matter!”
The silence that followed was absolute.
I pressed the button to activate the main speaker system, letting my voice ring out across the entire perimeter, loud enough for the neighbors down the lane to hear.
“She is my wife,” I said, every word dripping with absolute finality. “She built this empire with me. She raised you, Michael, when I was working twenty-hour days to secure your future. And the moment you laid your hands on her, you signed your own exile.”

“There is nothing left for you here. Not a cent. Not a title. Not a home. Go build your own life—if you can.”
