Chapter 10 - A New Dawn and the Ultimate Twist

Six months after the final convictions, the sun rose over a quiet coastal town three hundred miles away from the dark shadows of Blackwood Ridge.

Anna stood on the grass of our new home, throwing a ball to our newly adopted golden retriever. Her arms were healed, her legs were strong, and though the emotional scars would take time to fade entirely, the light had finally returned to her eyes.

Beside me stood Paige. Through a specialized legal petition backed by federal family courts, I had officially adopted Paige, securing full legal guardianship of the brave young woman who had risked everything to save my daughter. She was no longer a hidden secret of the Higgins family; she was my daughter, and Anna’s true older sister.

As I watched the two of them laughing near the water, my phone chimed with a message from Colonel Cole: Case file permanently closed. The Higgins name has been erased from Blackwood Ridge.

I slipped the phone into my pocket and walked out onto the lawn to join my daughters. The Higgins family had built an empire of fear, believing that money, influence, and heavy curtains could hide their darkest sins. But they had forgotten one simple truth: light always finds a way through the smallest tear in the fabric, and love—real, fierce, protective love—will burn down anything that stands in its way.
