CHAPTER 1 — The Woman Nobody Thought Would Survive

Nobody volunteered to enter Cell Block D.
Inside Blackstone Maximum Security Prison, the guards called it "The Graveyard."
The inmates had another name for it.
Hell.
Every murderer, gang leader, cartel enforcer, corrupt mercenary, and psychopath considered too dangerous for the general prison population ended up behind those steel doors.
Fights happened every single day.
People disappeared.
Even correctional officers refused to walk through the block alone.
There was one man who ruled everything.
His name was Victor Kane.
Six feet six.
Over 280 pounds.
His face carried dozens of knife scars.
His arms were covered in faded gang tattoos earned over twenty-five years inside different prisons.
Rumors claimed he had never lost a fight.
Others whispered something even darker.
Every inmate who challenged Victor either ended up in the hospital... or never spoke again.
There were no written rules in Cell Block D.
Only Victor's rules.
Everyone obeyed.
Everyone...
Until the prison gates opened one rainy Tuesday morning.
A transport van rolled into the yard.
The prisoners watched from behind thick steel bars.
A female inmate stepped out.
The laughter started immediately.
She looked completely out of place.
About thirty-two years old.
Slim.
No visible tattoos.
Dark brown hair tied into a simple ponytail.
Calm gray eyes.
A plain prison uniform that hung loosely from her shoulders.
She carried one small box containing her personal belongings.
No fear.
No anger.
No panic.
Just silence.
The guards exchanged nervous glances.
"You sure about this?"
One officer whispered.
Another checked the paperwork for the third time.
"There has to be a mistake."
"There isn't."
"Orders from the Department."
"She goes to Cell Block D."
The older guard frowned.
"She won't last one night."
The heavy security doors slowly opened.
Metal slammed against metal.
Every conversation inside the block stopped.
Hundreds of eyes fixed on the newcomer.
One woman.
Surrounded by monsters.
Victor stood from his chair in the center of the recreation area.
The giant slowly walked toward her.
Each step echoed across the concrete floor.
The other inmates instinctively moved aside.
Nobody dared remain in Victor's path.
He stopped inches away from her.
His shadow completely covered her.
"So..."
His deep voice rumbled.
"They finally sent us entertainment."
Laughter exploded around the room.
One inmate shouted,
"She'll be crying before sunset!"
Another laughed,
"I'll give her two hours!"
Someone else yelled,
"Start taking bets!"
Victor grabbed the cardboard box from her hands.
Without even looking inside...
He threw it across the prison floor.
Photos...
Letters...
Books...
Everything scattered across the dirty concrete.
The prisoners burst into laughter.
The woman looked at the scattered belongings.
She slowly knelt.
Calmly picked up every single item.
Never saying a word.
Victor smiled.
He expected tears.
Begging.
Fear.
Instead...
Nothing.
She stood up again.
Looked directly into his eyes.
Then quietly asked,
"Finished?"
The laughter stopped.
Just for a second.
Victor narrowed his eyes.
Nobody had ever spoken to him like that.
Nobody.
He stepped even closer.
"So you think you're brave?"
"No."
She answered softly.
"I simply don't waste energy on barking dogs."
Silence.
Absolute silence.
Every inmate froze.
One prisoner accidentally dropped his food tray.
The metal echoed across the room.
Nobody even looked.
They were all staring at Victor.
No one...
No one...
Had ever insulted him to his face.
Victor smiled.
But this wasn't amusement.
It was rage.
The terrifying kind.
He leaned close enough for only her to hear.
"You'll be dead before breakfast."
She didn't flinch.
Instead...
She quietly replied,
"I've heard that before."
Victor punched the concrete wall beside her head.
The impact cracked the cement.
Dust filled the air.
The prisoners cheered wildly.
But the woman never blinked.
The guards watched through reinforced glass.
One younger officer whispered,
"We have to move her."
The prison warden slowly shook his head.
"No."
"But Victor will kill her."
The warden stared at the confidential file resting on his desk.
A thick red stamp covered the front page.
CLASSIFIED.
His voice became almost a whisper.
"If Victor knew who she really was..."
"He'd be the one asking for protection."
The young officer frowned.
"Who is she?"
The warden closed the file.
"You'll find out soon enough."
Meanwhile...
Back inside Cell Block D...
Victor smiled at the crowd.
"Ladies and gentlemen..."
He announced loudly.
"Tonight..."
"We're going to have some fun."
The prisoners roared with excitement.
They believed they were about to witness another brutal execution.
None of them noticed...
The woman quietly touching the silver ring hidden beneath the fabric sewn inside her prison sleeve.
A ring that should never have been inside a maximum-security prison.
A ring carrying the symbol of an organization so secret...
Even governments feared speaking its name.
And somewhere...
Far beyond the prison walls...
Three black SUVs had just stopped outside the main gate.
None of them carried prison officials.
They carried people far more dangerous.
People who had come for one prisoner.
Not to rescue her.
May you like
But to ask for her permission.
To begin a war.
