CHAPTER 1 — The Box That Changed Everything
Everyone on the private jet thought it was just another routine flight.
The engines purred smoothly as billionaire Ethan Crawford relaxed in his leather seat, reviewing documents worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Across from him stood Amelia, the newest flight attendant on the company's luxury fleet. Quiet. Professional. Almost invisible.
She had only worked for the airline for three weeks.
Yet today, she was carrying something no one else on board had ever seen.
A small silver lockbox.
Without saying a word, Amelia placed it gently on the table in front of Ethan.
"Sir," she whispered, "I was told to give this to you... but only after we were in the air."
The cabin suddenly fell silent.
Ethan frowned.
"There must be some mistake."
Amelia slowly shook her head.
"The man who gave it to me said if anyone else touched this box before you... people would die."
Every executive on board looked at one another.
One of Ethan's security guards immediately reached for the box.
"Don't!"
Amelia's voice echoed through the cabin.
The guard froze.
She reached into her pocket and produced a tiny brass key.
"This key only works once."
Ethan's heartbeat accelerated.
No one besides one person in the entire world knew about that kind of lock.
His father.
The same father who had supposedly died fifteen years ago.
With trembling hands, Ethan unlocked the box.
Inside...
There wasn't money.
There weren't jewels.
There was only an old family photograph.
And beneath it...
A handwritten note stained with dried blood.
"If you're reading this... I've been murdered. And the killer is already sitting on this plane."
The color drained from Ethan's face.
Every passenger suddenly looked suspicious.
Every smile felt fake.
Every friendship became a possible betrayal.
Then the cockpit speaker crackled.
"Captain to Mr. Crawford... we've just received a request to change our destination."
Before Ethan could respond...
The plane violently banked to the left.
