Chapter 19 - A New Semester

The morning air of Querétaro was crisp, bright, and filled with the vibrant energy of early autumn.
Inside the downtown apartment, the kitchen smelled of warm vanilla pancakes, fresh fruit, and sweet hot chocolate. Chloe stood by the front door, wearing her brand-new school uniform, her backpack zipped tight, her cheeks flushed with healthy color and natural vitality.
Mariana adjusted the collar of Chloe’s jacket, smiling warmly. "Do you have everything you need, sweetheart? Notebooks? Pens? Your favorite lunchbox?"
"Everything, Mom," Chloe beamed, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "And I don't need to look over my shoulder anymore, do I?"
"Never again," Mariana promised, pulling her daughter into a fierce, protective embrace. "You walk into that school with your head held high, knowing that you are loved, protected, and stronger than any storm."
They walked out of the building together into the golden morning sunlight, strolling down the tree-lined avenue toward the school gates. Children laughed on the playground; parents chatted near the entrance; and the world moved forward with a steady, beautiful rhythm.

Mariana watched as Chloe joined a group of classmates, laughing naturally and running toward the school doors without a single trace of hesitation or fear.
