Chapter 10 - A NEW HORIZONSix months after that freezing November night, the rain over Seattle finally gave way to a brilliant, golden spring morning.

I stood on the private balcony of the newly renovated Vance Tower penthouse—now officially renamed the Marcus & Harper Foundation Headquarters. The bitter chill of winter had melted away, replaced by the warm, inviting breeze of a new beginning.

Below me, the city hummed with life. The corrupt empire built on greed and betrayal had been completely dismantled, transformed into a transparent, ethical enterprise that funded community tech education and supported underprivileged families—giving opportunities to people just like the girl I used to be.

Harrison Reed stepped out onto the balcony, holding two cups of steaming coffee and handing one to me.

"The final audit for the foundation's community outreach program just cleared," Reed smiled, leaning against the glass railing. "We’re officially debt-free, asset-secure, and operational across three states."

I took a sip of the coffee, looking out over the sprawling, beautiful skyline of Seattle.

"Good," I murmured, feeling the weight of the platinum pocket watch in my coat pocket. "Because we're just getting started."

Reed nodded approvingly, raising his cup in a silent toast before heading back inside to let me have my moment of solitude.

I closed my eyes for a brief second, feeling the warm spring wind brush against my face. I could almost hear Marcus’s voice whispering in the wind, telling me how proud he was.

They had tried to throw me out into the freezing rain, thinking they could freeze me out of their world. But they forgot one simple rule of nature:

May you like

When you bury a seed in the dark, cold earth, it doesn't die.

It grows.
