Chapter 8 - A New Dawn

Six months later, the sun rose over a quiet, beautiful estate on the outskirts of the city—a sprawling property surrounded by lush green gardens, a blooming orchard, and a bright, sunlit workshop.
Abigail stood on the wide front porch, holding a warm cup of coffee, breathing in the crisp morning air.
With her twenty-million-dollar lottery winnings, she hadn't just secured her own future; she had built an empire of redemption. She established the Riley Foundation for Betrayed Caregivers, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping parents and family members who had been financially and emotionally abused by manipulative relatives.
Naomi now served as the executive director of the foundation, using her legal and technical expertise to protect vulnerable families from falling prey to the kind of psychological trap Abigail had barely survived.
A sleek delivery truck pulled up to the driveway, dropping off a massive delivery for the workshop out back: industrial sewing machines, high-end fabrics, and restoration tools.
Abigail smiled softly. She walked down the steps, unlocked the doors to her brand-new workshop, and placed a framed photograph of her late mother right on the center workbench.
Her phone buzzed in her pocket. It was a notification from her bank, confirming the foundation’s monthly outreach grant allocation.

She turned off the screen, slipped the phone back into her pocket, and picked up a spool of vibrant red thread. For thirty-four years, her life had been defined by someone else’s lies.
Now, every single stitch she made belonged entirely to her.
