CHAPTER 1 – The Wedding That Should Never Have Happened

The grand ballroom glittered beneath crystal chandeliers worth more than most families earned in a lifetime. Every guest wore designer suits, expensive gowns, and carefully practiced smiles. Cameras flashed as America's favorite billionaire entrepreneur, Ethan Blackwood, stood proudly beside the woman everyone believed was about to become his perfect wife.
The officiant smiled.
"Does anyone have any reason why this marriage should not take place?"
Silence.
Absolute silence.
Until...
A small voice echoed through the enormous hall.
"...I do."
Every head turned.
Standing alone in the doorway was a skinny little boy, no older than eight. His oversized gray hoodie was stained with dirt. His sneakers were falling apart. His face was streaked with dried tears as if he had been crying for hours before finding the courage to walk inside.
The guests frowned.
Security immediately moved toward him.
"Kid, this is a private event."
The boy didn't move.
His trembling eyes never left Ethan.
Instead, he slowly reached into his pocket and pulled out a wrinkled photograph.
"I just need him to look at this..."
Ethan barely glanced at the child.
"Someone please remove him."
But something stopped him.
The boy's voice.
It wasn't loud.
It wasn't angry.
It was heartbreakingly calm.
"My mom said... if you saw this picture... you'd remember us."
The ballroom suddenly became silent again.
The bride tightened her grip around Ethan's arm.
"Ignore him."
But Ethan couldn't.
The boy held the photograph higher.
Even from several feet away, Ethan felt his heart skip a beat.
The photo showed a younger version of himself...
Standing beside a smiling woman.
The same woman who had disappeared from his life eight years earlier.
And standing between them...
A tiny baby wrapped in a blue blanket.
Color drained from Ethan's face.
"Where..."
His voice cracked.
"...Where did you get that picture?"
The boy swallowed hard.
"My mom kept it."
Gasps spread through the crowd.
The bride's confident smile disappeared instantly.
"He's lying."
But the child wasn't finished.
He slowly stepped closer.
"I walked three hours to get here..."
"...because my mom died yesterday."
The room froze.
Even the musicians stopped playing.
The little boy's hands shook violently as he pulled a folded envelope from inside his hoodie.
"Before she died..."
"...she told me to give this to my dad."
Everyone stared at Ethan.
The billionaire could barely breathe.
"No..."
he whispered.
"No... this can't be happening."
The boy looked directly into his eyes.
Then asked the one question that shattered every soul inside the ballroom.
"Did you really forget us..."
"...or did you choose to?"
Not a single guest dared speak.
The bride slowly stepped backward.
Her perfect wedding had become everyone's nightmare.
Ethan reached toward the envelope with trembling fingers...
But before he could touch it...
A woman in the back of the ballroom suddenly screamed.
"WAIT!"
Every head turned.
An elegant older woman stood frozen, her face white as snow.
She was Ethan's mother.
She stared at the photograph...
Then at the little boy...
Before whispering words that nobody expected to hear.
"Oh my God..."
May you like
"...He's telling the truth."
