Chapter 7 - Federal InterventionTwo uniformed local police officers and an economic crimes investigator stepped into the dining room, flanked by two corporate security guards.

The lead investigator flashed his badge directly in front of Victoria’s face.

Victoria froze. Her mouth opened, but no words came out.
The officers stepped forward, taking her firmly by both arms. Heavy steel handcuffs snapped onto her wrists with a sharp, metallic click that echoed through the silent house.
As they dragged her struggling, screaming form out of the dining hall, Victoria glared at me with absolute venom. “You haven't won! I’ll appeal! I’ll take every penny you have!”
“You’ll spend the next ten years trying to explain your offshore accounts to a federal judge,” I called out smoothly as the doors closed behind her.
Alejandro exhaled a long, shuddering breath, collapsing back into his chair as the full weight of the nightmare finally lifted from his shoulders. He looked up at me, tears welling in his eyes.

“Camila… I’m so sorry,” he whispered, his voice breaking. “I was blind.”
“I know,” I said softly, resting a hand on his shoulder. “We both were grieving. But we’re safe now.”
