Chapter 2 - THE BLOODLINE CONSPIRACYThe document lying in the mud was not a standard will amendment. It was a comprehensive, court-certified genealogical and DNA forensics report issued by the New York State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Paternity Verification: Samuel Vale / Richard Vale.

"No," Richard whispered, backing away from the open grave as if the manila folder were a venomous snake. "No, that's impossible. That's a forged document! Dad destroyed those records forty years ago!"

"Grandfather didn't destroy them, Richard," I replied, my voice steady and cold. "He locked them in a safety deposit box at the Federal Trust Bank and gave the secondary key to me the night before he passed away."

Grant, my cousin, shoved his way through the stunned crowd of mourners, staring at his father in panic. "Dad? What is he talking about? What's in that folder?"

Richard didn't answer. He couldn't.

Because the DNA report proved a terrifying truth that my father had discovered just weeks before his death: Richard Vale was not Samuel Vale’s legitimate brother. He was the product of an adoption cover-up orchestrated by my grandfather’s estranged parents to protect a family scandal—meaning Richard had zero legal blood right to the Vale family trust, Vale Industrial, or a single square inch of our multi-million-dollar empire.

"You're a fraud, Richard," I said, leaning hard on my crutches as I stepped out of the grave pit with agonizing effort. "Every contract you signed, every board seat you usurped, every dollar you stole from my father’s company over the last twenty years... it was all built on a lie."
