Chapter 3 - THE INTERCOM CRASHESThe entire floor of the maternity wing fell dead silent. Nurses stopped pushing their medicine carts; residents froze in the hallway; the technician dropped his clipboard with a sharp clatter against the linoleum floor.

A crisp, authoritative voice boomed through every speaker in the building, echoing down the pristine corridors:
"ATTENTION ALL PERSONNEL. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY ADMINISTRATIVE TAKEOVER. BY ORDER OF THE MAJORITY SHAREHOLDERS AND THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, ALL EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGES, SURGICAL SCHEDULING RIGHTS, AND BUILDING ACCESS CODES HELD BY DR. JULIAN THORNE ARE REVOKED, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. SECURITY, SECURE THE DIRECTOR'S OFFICE. ALL DELEGATED STAFF REPORT TO DESIGnated STATIONS."
The color drained entirely from Julian’s face. The smooth, unshakeable facade instantly shattered into a mask of pure, unadulterated panic. He spun around, staring up at the ceiling speaker as if it had just spoken in ancient Sumerian.
"What... what is this?" Julian stammered, his voice cracking slightly. He whipped out his smartphone, tapping frantically on the screen, opening his administrative app.
Access Denied. Error 403: Credentials Invalid.
He tried again, his fingers flying across the glass with desperate speed.
Account Suspended. Contact System Administrator.
"No, no, no! This is impossible!" Julian snarled, his composure completely dissolving. He turned his wild, bloodshot eyes toward me, realization slamming into him like a freight train. He pointed a trembling, accusing finger at my face. "You! What did you do? What did you just do?!"
Chloe let out a terrified shriek, burying her face in her hands as Julian lunged forward, grabbing my wrist with the crushing grip of a desperate animal.
"Let go of her," a deep, gravelly voice echoed from the doorway.
Julian froze. He slowly turned his head.

Standing in the doorway were three uniformed state troopers, their hands resting casually yet purposefully on the heavy leather holsters at their hips. Behind them stood Marcus Vance, my attorney, carrying a thick leather briefcase containing the original ownership deeds and encrypted audit logs proving years of financial embezzlement, falsified patient records, and domestic violence reports filed by previous victims who had been silenced.
"Dr. Julian Thorne," the lead officer said, stepping into the room with heavy, deliberate strides. "You are under arrest for felony domestic abuse, aggravated assault, and conspiracy to commit medical sabotage. Turn around and place your hands behind your back."
