Chapter 8 - The Empire RebornSpring arrived in Boston with a sudden, violent burst of warm rain that washed away the last remnants of the winter snow, exposing rich, green earth and blooming cherry blossoms along the historic streets of Beacon Hill.

At the top floor of the Cross Tower, the board of directors sat in absolute silence, watching their leader step up to the head of the mahogany table.
Ezra Cross looked different. The bitter, hunted isolation that had defined him for years was gone, replaced by an unshakable, calm authority. Standing right beside him at the head of the table, dressed in a sharp executive suit, was Willa—now officially the chief strategic advisor of the Cross Syndicate, as well as a permanent fixture in the Beacon Hill estate.
Down in the courtyard below, little Rosie could be seen through the reinforced glass windows, laughing as she chased butterflies in the Syndicate's private gardens under the watchful eye of trusted guards.
Griffin and Paige were locked away in a maximum-security federal penitentiary, their names erased from the family registry, their assets stripped down to the last penny, forgotten by the world they had tried to steal.
Ezra placed both hands on the edge of the table, his icy gray eyes sweeping across the capos and advisors who had once doubted him.
"The past few months taught us a hard lesson," Ezra’s voice resonated through the silent room, strong and unwavering. "An empire is not measured by the size of its territory, the depth of its vaults, or the fear it strikes in its enemies. An empire is measured by the loyalty of the people who sit at your table."
He glanced sideways at Willa, who caught his eye and gave a subtle, affirming nod.

"The Cross Syndicate enters a new era today," Ezra announced, his voice ringing with absolute power. "We protect our own. We destroy our enemies. And the crown of Boston... stays right where it belongs."
The capos stood up as one man, bowing their heads in deep, unquestioning respect as the true king of the underworld reclaimed his throne, forever protected by the fire of a family that could never be broken again.
