Chapter 3 - The Secret Lens of Truth

The heavy oak doors slammed shut behind Clara, locking her out in the cold rain of the courtyard, but the digital seed of destruction had already been planted.

Inside the ballroom, the string quartet hesitantly struck up a cheerful melody, attempting to sweep the ugly incident under the rug. Victoria forced a glittering, practiced smile back onto her face, raising a glass of vintage champagne to toast the bewildered guests.

"A minor disruption by a disgruntled employee," Victoria announced into the microphone, her voice echoing smoothly across the room. "Let us not let a common criminal ruin the happiest day of—"

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

The sound didn't come from a phone. It erupted simultaneously from every single digital screen mounted across the massive ballroom—the decorative projection walls, the media reporters' tablets, and the smartphones of every elite guest present.

Victoria frowned, her champagne glass pausing halfway to her mouth. "What is the meaning of this technical glitch? IT department, shut those screens down immediately!"

But the IT technicians were frozen, their own faces drained of color as they stared at their master control panels. They couldn't override the signal. It had bypassed the venue's local network entirely, broadcasting live from an external, encrypted cloud server.

The shimmering wedding montage photos vanished from the giant screens. In their place, a crisp, high-definition video feed materialized, capturing a chilling, silent angle from the venue’s hidden kitchen security camera—an angle nobody outside the catering staff knew existed.

The timestamp in the corner of the video read: 19:42:05 PM — Exactly four minutes before the soup was served.

On the screen, the crystal-clear audio kicked in. Viewers watched in stunned horror as the head chef, sweating profusely and glancing nervously over his shoulder, pulled a small, unmarked glass vial from his chef's coat. With a sinister, calculated grin, he uncorked the vial and tipped a thick, colorless, odorless liquid directly into the golden bowl of lobster bisque destined exclusively for the groom.
