Chapter 17 - The Confrontation on the StageArthur Sterling raised his crystal champagne glass, smiling warmly at the sea of applauding elites gathered beneath the crystal chandeliers.

"Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for your continued generosity," Sterling’s rich, baritone voice echoed effortlessly through the high-end sound system. "Tonight, our foundation celebrates another milestone in securing the future of pediatric medical research across the globe..."

Julian’s jaw tightened so hard I thought his teeth might crack. He reached down, unlatched the heavy leather briefcase, and pulled out the encrypted flash drives and the original financial ledgers detailing Sterling’s offshore accounts.

"It's time to end this," Julian whispered, stepping out from the crowd and walking straight down the center aisle toward the elevated dais.

I followed right behind him, my heart pounding a frantic rhythm against my ribs. Agent Vance flanked our left side, his hand resting securely inside his jacket.

As Julian mounted the wide wooden steps leading up to the stage, the crowd’s applause slowly died down. Several security guards in sharp suits immediately stepped forward, blocking his path.

"Excuse me, sir, this area is restricted to invited guests only," the lead security guard said, placing a firm hand on Julian’s chest.

"I'm an invited guest," Julian said loudly, his voice cutting through the silent ballroom like a razor. He hoisted the heavy briefcase and slammed it down onto the podium right in front of Arthur Sterling’s microphone.

Sterling didn't flinch. He lowered his champagne glass slowly, his cold blue eyes narrowing as he looked down at Julian.

"Mr. Vance," Sterling said smoothly, a chilling smile touching his lips. "I heard about your tragic family loss. How unfortunate that you chose to air your grief in such an inappropriate venue."

"You didn't lose a child, Sterling. You bought one," Julian roared, unzipping the briefcase and dumping a massive cascade of financial records, bank statements, and confession transcripts across the mahogany podium.

The crowd gasped. Whispers erupted like a sudden wave across the ballroom.

Sterling’s smile finally vanished, replaced by a dark, venomous glare. "You're making a grave mistake, young man. Security, escort these lunatics out of here immediately."

Before the guards could lunge forward, Agent Vance flashed his federal badge high in the air.

"FBI! Arthur Sterling, you are under arrest for international human trafficking, insurance fraud, and conspiracy to commit murder!"
